A team of prairie specialists has come together to produce an extensive guide for landowners wishing to restore or create prairie habitat on their land. The guide provides background information on prairies in western WA, and a brief field guide of prairie soils, plants and animals. Most importantly, it gives step-by-step direction on how to plan and implement prairie restoration on both residential and working lands. You can also find resources for anything else you might need while planning a prairie restoration project: native plant suppliers, weed control options, funding and incentive programs, and more.
This beautiful and comprehensive guide was written by ESA Adolfson and The Nature Conservancy. The project was led by The Nature Conservancy in conjunction with several key partners including Natural Resources Conservation Service, San Juan County Land Bank, Thurston Conservation District, Washington Department of Natural Resources, and US Fish and Wildlife Service. Funding was provided by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
